Please note carefully that by signing application and enrolment forms you are giving explicit consent for the data collected about you to be recorded and used for the purposes below. Data will be processed for funding, statistical and administrative purposes connected with your studies. Relevant information about you in connection with your studies may be sent to other organisations such as exam boards and the Careers Service. The college reserves the right to contact your parent/guardian (for students under 18 years of age) or employer (if the employer is paying your fees) regarding your progress. The data collected will be subject to the Data Protection Act 1998.

The information about you will be sent to the National Council for Education and Training in Wales - ELWa. Your record will be added to a database that will be used to pass information, in a form that does not allow the learner to be identified, to the National Assembly for Wales, central government departments and agencies that require it to carry out their functions under the Education Acts. It may also be released to other approved users. These may include academic researchers and commercial bodies.

Information derived from the data may be published but your names will not be included in any statistical analysis or other publication. Precautions are taken to minimise the risk that you will be able to be identified from the data. Users of the data will not be able to use the data to contact you.

ELWa may also wish to use the data to contact you for follow-up activities or to provide details of further learning opportunities. They require your explicit consent to do this. A tick box is provided on the college enrolment form asking if you agree to be sent such information.

Under the Data Protection Act 1998, you have the right to a copy of the data held about you by the college or ELWa, for which a small fee may be charged.
